Sue:
You really show your passion and belief in aromatherapy through out your book. You are a
certified aromatherapist. Can you talk about how a person becomes an aromatherapist?
Judith:
When I became certified as an aromatherapist it was through Aromatherapy Seminars based in
California. It was a home study course, quite involved, that took about a year of
work to complete. I am in the process of getting another certification that is recognized
internationally through The Australasian College of Herbal Studies (www.herbed.com).
Sue: Your co- writer Paula M. Bousquet introduced
you to the world of aromatherapy. How did you meet and what got you so interested in this
fascinating science?
 Judith:
Paula and I have known each other for 14 years. We worked together professional as
technical writers. While you would need to ask Paula what got her interested in
Aromatherapy, for me, I was pregnant at the time. I had been very sick as a young child
and spent considerable time in the hospital. I thought if I pass on any
of these illnesses to my infant, I would want a more natural way of treating her. I
briefly looked into herbology, homeopathy, and aromatherapy. I chose to get certified in
Aromatherapy because I was thrilled with both the breadth of everyday health and beauty
concerns that essential oils could respond to. I was also impressed with the ongoing
research into many significant diseases which are responding to essential oils. I
thought I could get the most benefit from essential oils.

"Sudden Menopause"
by Debbie DeAngelo
 Nurse
and women's health educator Debbie DeAngelo experienced menopause herself at 26, after
ovarian cancer forced her to have both her ovaries removed. Debbie addresses the issue of
what faces women who face menopause unexpectedly from various reasons including
hysterectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, medication, anorexia or other unusual causes. She
offers guidance on the emotional and cognitive difficulties (short-term memory loss), as
well as the potential physical problems (osteoporosis, heart disease) related to early
menopause, and their treatment (nutrition, hormone replacement therapy, exercise). In this
exclusive article on HotFlash, Debbie has also graciously shared the first chapter of her
book which tell us a bit more about what sudden menopause is. She goes on to tell us more
about sudden menopause, the reasons for hysterectomy and ovarian malfunction, the
connection between the brain
and menstrual cycle, and the process of natural menopause. Have a
