Remember when people
went to movies just for pure enjoyment? Some people are picky when it comes to movies.
Movies are meant to be enjoyed, not studied! Happily, in this delightful romantic comedy,
two of Hollywoods most loved celebrities will make critical movie goers mum on their
harsh comments.Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, famed for
their stardom in "Sleepless In Seattle", reunite for Nora Ephrons
"Youve Got Mail". Coincidentally, Nora Ephron directed Hanks and Ryan in
"Sleepless". "Mail" is based on the classic "Shop Around the
Corner", which starred the late but great Jimmy Stewart. In "Mail", Tom
Hanks assumes Stewarts memorable roll.
Time may have caught up with these superstars, but their sparkling chemistry still ignites
the screen. I looked forward to "Youve Got Mail" because of Hanks and
Ryans sizzling appeal. I was rewarded with an excellent flick all Hanks-Ryans
fans can love in harmony.
Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) is planning to open a large, standard bookstore complete with a coffee
shop and escalator. Just around the corner, simple living Kristine Kelley (Meg Ryan) owns
a childrens bookshop. This bookshop was passed down from her late mother. The Shop
Around the Corner (the bookstores name) is now in serious competition with Fox
Books impending success. Kelley is furious with Fox because his bookstore will not
have any informed help or personal attention to the customers.
Simultaneously, Fox is corresponding with a friendly e-mail pal, who he hopes to meet
someday. But when he finally meets her, he is in for a very big surprise!
Meg Ryan is fresh and adorable as Kristine Kelley. She is so down to earth and lovable.
Its absolutely irresistible the way her nose wrinkles up to her eyes when she beams.
Her onscreen acting is just as appealing. I can identify with her willpower to save her
shop from being enveloped by mighty Fox books. All she wants to do is spread joy to the
world, which is apparent when kids come to visit her quaint shop.
Tom Hanks is funny and charming as Joe Fox. He lives for the times when he gets to write
to his e-mail pal Shop-girl.
The cinematography is gorgeous, especially in the closing scene with the glorified view of
a lush and colorful garden.
So at the end of the movie, if you thought the plot of "Youve Got Mail"
was sappy, I bet you wont be making critical comments. Youll probably talk
about how cute Hanks and Ryan are as you skip out of the movie theater with a wide smile
on your face.

movie
review
"Cat and Dogs" is a parody
on the eternal struggle between dogs and cats. The Brody family doesnt know that
they are under siege by mischievous cats. The cats are planning to scratch out humans and
dogs so they can rule the world. "Cats and Dogs" has something for everyone.
Theres slapstick humor for kids, including dogs and cats comically crashing into
trees. Find out more and see a trailer of the movie as well as the official website which
is a lot of fun, too!! |
