Sue:
I love your concept of mini meals. I know that I get overwhelmingly hungry a few times a
day and that I can't eat as much as I used too at a meal. What gave you this great idea?
Dr.Gillespie
I was a "once a day" big eater...I didn't eat breakfast, I skipped
lunch, but I really could chow down for dinner, consuming as much as any man...or more.
What I didn't realize was that falling estrogen levels affect a hormone, cholecystokinen,
that signals your brain to "put down the fork." Lower levels of this gut
hormone, in addition to increasing progesterone levels, lets you eat...and eat...like the
Energizer Bunny and not feel full.
Recent studies on insulin and glucose levels in women demonstrated that meals composed of
250-300 calorie portions, REGARDLESS OF CONTENT, were the best at allowing our stomachs to
empty at a reasonable rate while keeping our blood sugar and insulin levels humming along
at an even level.
I developed all the mini meals you will find in The Menopause Diet Mini Meal Cookbook to
show how easy it is to eat several small meals a day. You don't need a certificate from a
cooking school to understand them and many take only a few minutes, leaving precious time
to spend exercising, another important point in The Menopause Diet. Just 3 10 minute
segments a day can send growth hormone shooting through the roof, which helps to mobilize
fat from our bodies.
Thank
you Dr. Gillespie for your comments and now I would like to thank you for the following
