| Activella is a form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) used to reduce and
eliminate many of the disrupting symptoms of menopause, like hot flashes and sweats. It
can only be prescribed by a physician for women who are in menopause. Activella is a pill that contains both a plant form of the estrogen called 17-beta estradiol and a form of progestin that is also derived from plant sources. This progestin is called norethindrone acetate. Activella is taken every day and comes in a 28 day pack that resembles the disk packaging some birth control pills come in. Activella is a form of HRT and is NOT a contraceptive - it does NOT prevent pregnancy nor sexually transmitted diseases. Activella costs about $26.00 per package. Activella has been proven to prevent osteoporosis, hot flashes/sweats, vaginal dryness, and vaginal atrophy. As with any form of HRT, Activella is not recommended for women who smoke, or have any other health reasons preventing them from taking HRT. How
